Warwick Tennis offers serious players the opportunity to test themselves against other universities across the country. We are a performance sport with three men's teams, a men's development squad, and two women's teams. Players receive dedicated training time, fitness testing, strength and conditioning and the chance to represent Warwick at Varsity. Our Men's squads are league and cup champions and the Women's 1sts were one of the highest-scoring BUCS teams in 2015/16. Despite our determination to succeed, teams focus on having fun and creating a strong group ethic.
The tennis club consists of two Women's Teams that compete in BUCS leagues. The first team is in the Midlands 1A league, and the second team in Midlands 2A. The teams train 2 times a week altogether with our coach Chris on Tuesdays and Fridays to work on our technique as well as match play. The BUCS matches then take place on the Wednesday. It is a really great experience to be part of a team and you become really close as you train together. The team also runs the development squad for those on the cusp of qualifying for the team. The tennis club is one of the friendliest and most sociable on campus and it is great club for freshers as you will instantly make so many friends from all aspects of the tennis club. Plus, if you are lucky enough to be on the team - you pretty much start right away training hard with the amazing opportunity to represent Warwick! With matchplay, BUCS and social play - Freshers will always get the chance to play.
There are three men's teams that compete in BUCS leagues and cups throughout the year. We train twice a week and do fitness twice a week in order to prepare for Wednesday BUCS matches. Being part of the team is an amazing experience; training and competing together means that you become very close to your teammates, who will end up being some of your best friends at university, and you can look forward to some pretty great nights out. We also have a development squad, for those just below team standard. Whether or not you make the team, you can be a part of the Warwick Tennis Club, which is one of the most exciting and inclusive clubs at Warwick. Our Wednesday night Circles will become a highlight of every one of your weeks and the club organizes several nights out, charity events and an amazing tour experience, where we go to some European destination together during the first week of holidays in March.
