Term 1 Week 3
Alright you bunch of radgies,
Time for your round up of a crazily crammed Week 3.
We will kick off with the teams. Men's team were all over the shop this week - anything that could go wrong seemed to go wrong on Wednesday (get well soon Alex Locci). But despite it being his birthday, Martin Slater- a man already carving his name into the Warwick tennis history books - showed his inner northern steel and managed to get everyone sorted. The second team drew against Cambridge 1s in a hotly contested battle over at the fortress. Stand out performance goes to Greg bacon who by his own admission played off his tree .We will gloss over the results of the third team, but let's just say bagels and breadsticks. At the end of the day the real winner was tennis and that's all that matters. This week also saw similar results from the girl’s team - firsts edged a win whilst the seconds came up a little short.
Warwick tennis' dynamic duo Hattie and James served up another scorcher at social play. On the menu: an appetiser of waves, a pallet cleanser of eliminator, a main course of around the world and everyone's favourite desert bluff. Two time countdown winner, Ollie Heath was our guest leader of social play on Sunday much to everyone's horror. His lack of basic control over his limbs resulted in frequent bloody falls as the fresh looked on in mixture of shock and amazement (Amazement has 9 letters for you countdown folk).
Circle had an extremely large circumference this week as the fresher’s made their debut for our annual BYOF circle. But the biggest night out this week was Friday as Warwick Tennis opened its
metaphorical gates and welcomed our new intake officially into the club with adoptions. Initially they were split, with the team boys being baptised into the club and social players being given a mini tour of leam , before everyone came to the Bandstand to pledge their allegiance to UWTC. This was shortly followed by yet another huge circle before all those that were still
This week is quieter, but alas we still have our two social play sessions, our special Halloween circle (Costumes had better be epic) and a home match for our Men’s First Team as they welcome Loughborough to Fortress Westwood.
Have a wicked week and attend everything you can!
