Term 3 Week 1
Welcome back everyone to the most stressful term of the year but fret not, we’ll be sure to keep everyone in high enough spirits to overcome the soul draining experience of summer exams.
For those of you who were lucky enough to join us on our tour to Magaluf, you will know that it was an absolute belter. Gin Lemons were drank, karaoke was smashed, and questionable dance moves were pulled. But dance moves weren’t the only things
that were pulled… they know who they are.
On arrival at Palma airport, Connor and Ollie wasted no
time in switching from their jeans to their shorts in order
to fully embrace the warmer climate. As the airport
doors peeled open, choruses of ‘it’s hot, it is well hot,
might be too hot, might be’ rang around the group. It was
indeed ‘well hot’ and the majority of the group decided to
invest in some garish vests to both commemorate the
occasion and keep themselves cool during our stay.
The two themed nights produced some amazing costumes. Credit to Braintrust for their brilliant rendition of everyone’s favourite 90s girl band. The Toy Story group costume adopted by a section of the group was a great opportunity for them to dress up as their favourite characters from the 90s blockbuster. However, there was always going to be someone who drew the short straw and end up as the back end of slinky the dog.
There were some strong performances on the Tour Challenges from the group. Notable accomplishments were Banszky’s ability to steal an item of clothing from almost the whole group and Crawford managing to bag himself the headline DJ spot at one of Europe’s best clubs.
Although nightly prizes were awarded to those who had stood out from the pack, those who had shown a consistent ability to dedicate themselves to tennis, the sesh, and being a c*nt were awarded the ultimate prizes. Most dedicated was awarded to Clement, as he managed to actually play a reasonable amount of Tennis. Sesh Gremlin went to Fabris for being on the drink all day every day. And last but not least, C*ntwatch was awarded to Alex for falling over while carrying Annabel, resulting in a couple of black eyes for the pair – or was it internal bleeding?
With our dignity somewhat intact and our livers abused we boarded the plane back to Blighty, safe in the knowledge that the trip we’d just been on was one to remember.
For those of you leaving us this year, we hope your last Tour was a great send off. For the rest of you, make sure not to miss out on our next adventure, as Warwick Tennis descends on another one of Europe’s finest destinations. Let’s hope they’ve stocked up on Gin.
Back to reality and Wednesday saw the return of Social Play with plenty of familiar faces showing how rusty their swing had become over the Easter break. Nevertheless, our new Internal Events duo Ryan and Annabel put on a blinder of a show, providing everyone with their hit of Waves, Eliminator and Bluff which we’d all missed over the break. Social Play will be running every Wednesday and Sunday this term so come along for a revision break if you can.
Matchplay resumed on Thursday and the first session of the term was almost a disaster as Connor had to rush Ollie to A&E with the balls in his car. How inconsiderate of you Ollie. The tennis continued despite their absence and rumour has it that Martin was spotted trying to impart some of his expert knowledge onto Kat ahead of the Mixed (Chirpse) Doubles tournament. Only time will tell if he was successful as the pair aim for title.
Wednesday night brought about the first circle of term and the introduction of our new social secs Ronak and Cameron to the centre. The theme was the colour purple, an ode to the beautiful beverage. Congratulations to Pete for not being too mortal by the time midnight and his birthday arrived. There’s no theme for next week so there’s no costume hunting to get in the way of your revision. Bring yourselves along to enjoy a purple or ten in what is the penultimate chance to circle before the exam break.
Anyway, back to the grind – I’m sure you all have revision to do.
Have a good week.
Love, the Exec
