Term 1 Week 6
Well hello hello Warwick Tennis – what a busy week it’s been for all of us! While some lucky BA students got a much needed half term, the rest of us had a fun filled calendar filled with 24-hour mini tennis, social play, circle and much more.
The highlight of the week for everyone was
24-hour mini tennis – this mighty tennis
tradition went fantastically raising over
£300 for the club’s charity Parkinson’s UK.
It was rather nippy out there and I soon
found out why we don’t usually do it during
winter term. Really special shout-outs
firstly go to Greg Clarke and James
Crawford for sticking around during the
afternoon stint and sorting us out with a
megaphone and big speakers. Claire,
Annabel and Maddie took the reigns during the beginning of circle and kept popping out during the night. Maddie’s effort was especially impressive – going into circle, and then having a tacky c just so she could come back out and help again (did someone say next social sec?).
Thanks everyone for your generosity when the bucket came in and thanks James for then dropping everyone’s donations on the sticky floor during the interpretative dance sequence. After that the whole night is a bit of a blur to be honest with you as I got so cold that I can’t remember some of it and I think I nearly died.
One special highlight was
the guy who joined in with
the mini tennis and said he
lived in Leam, but just stood
there and watched when
the last bus left. When we
asked him why, he told us
that ‘busses are for the poor’ and then just walked off into
the night – wherever you are mate thanks for the help and I
hope got back okay in the end xoxo Really big shout out to
Clement and Banszky for staying and struggling through the
night shift with me and Hattie, really tight squad.
So many thank yous that I’m getting a bit emotional and this is feeling like an Oscars speech but thanks to Maddie for saving me and Hattie at 8am, and to Ryan, Ronak et al. for bringing it home like the solid boys they are.
At the end of a long hard week I treated myself to a little bit of MatchPlay on Sunday where we were all treated to a surprise appearance from the one and only Peter Hickson and there are rumours he’ll be back again soon if you didn’t get a chance to see him this time. Social play also saw an über-bluff shot from Annabel so noteworthy that she insisted I mentioned it. So there you go.
Saturday saw the football team send out a message to the rest of league by underlining why we really are title contenders this year. We didn't just beat Politics, we left them stunned as we wiped shit on their gawping faces in the form of a 7-2 demolition. WE GO AGAIN! This is our year lads!
That all for now folks.
Much love Your ExEc xoxo
