Term 1 Week 3
We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.
Oscar Wilde and myself Thursday morning.
Week three hit hard with the main event this week being the 'bring your own fresher' circle. After meeting the club at social play and team trials, this
was the main opportunity to show everyone why you
belong with us at Warwick Tennis. This was the
biggest circle of the year with 70+ in attendance but
Ronak, Cameron and special guest Ben Attle did a
good job keeping the show going. We hope you had a
good time and will come back soon but here is the
post circle report:
Hattie G – Targeted from the get go with Dan Willey’s
double-whack Hattie showed us why she’s such an
amazing president. The national anthem always causes a tear to form in my eye but Hattie’s strong drinking form made me prouder than ever.
Madeleine Rose Lewis – All those years of dance and CMD (Complex Melt Disorder) finally had an application with a lucky tennis fresh receiving a private dance. The 40 second affair (I think there was contact for possibly 2 of those) was well received by the crowd and security staff alike.
Julian Rocke – Why wear a white t-shirt when you can match it with white trousers! After downing his first 3 pints (“What is a pint?” – “568ml” Ollie Heath 2017) and then posing the question of what to do next (buy more duh), Julian proceeded to nail all games and bust moves in Pop til closing, a true rising star.
Harry Gardner – Clearly the strong drinking form of his girlfriend has not rubbed off yet as Harry’s pints seem to evaporate faster than he can drink them… Keep an eye out next week to watch him make 2 pints last a whole night.
Jamie Brown - Discontent with not being on the exec of a society that matters, Jamie took on the role of one the the tennis exec's duties this week to see if he could get away without being rumbled.
All other sports clubs – Obviously, they're all just weak tennis tribute acts.
Team news – The Ladies 1sts drew 6-6 with Oxford and 2nd demolished Coventry 1sts 12-0. Well done girls. The men’s 1sts lost to Cambridge 8-4, 2nds beat Cov 1sts 10-2 and 3rds beat Nottingham Trent 1sts 8-4. Well done guys.
Social Play – Still busy but fun as ever,
remember to come 1.30pm on Wednesday
and 2.30pm on Sunday. Matchplay follows at
Football team - The roaring lions of the club
took on a fierce-looking Finance outfit in the
much-hyped season opener. A new look team
capitalised on their opportunity to impress on debut with Gilberto and De Fraja putting in stunning performances to leave the Financers frantically searching for their calculators to work out just how two summer signings costing just no pounds and no pence managed to run rings around their defence. Finance did manage a cracker of a goal: a schwazzing 25 yard strike straight into the top corner, however the fact it was ended up in his own net proved decisive as Tennis emerged victorious with a 3-2 win. Onwards and upwards boiiiis amirite?
What can I do in week 4 with Warwick Tennis? Well there’s only a Rick and Morty circle, social play and team matches. Try and get as many circle + pop tickets for the remainder of this term as Tennis will be circling every week. Did I mention adoptions on Saturday, 7pm in Leamington, there will be social play adoptions as well as team so the whole club will be getting smashed, then going to a circle and a Luvbug club night…
See you all soon – your exec xoxo
