TERM 1 WEEK 3
It’s been another interesting week at the UWTC (in other news, water is wet).
First things first, the radio show hosted Men’s Captain Andy Berry for an exciting take on brand comebacks, the Royal family and recollections of last week’s egg-citing team bonding.
Social play was full of keen tennis beans as usual this week. I can report that upon being asked for a review of this week's sessions, Ollie Edwards “can’t really remember”. Thank the lord for his partner in crime James Kraven though, who saved the day with a show-stopping "Nothing I can think of really" – you can't say they don't work as a team.
Round 2 of BUCS also took place, with all 5 of our teams on courts across the Midlands to bring out the following results:
Men’s 1s vs. Nottingham 3s (A) - L
Men’s 2s vs. Cambridge 1s (H) - L
Men’s 3s vs. Loughborough 3s (H) - L
Women’s 1s vs. De Montfort 1s (A) - V
Women’s 2s vs. Birmingham 2s (A) – L
Despite some really strong efforts, it sadly wasn’t meant to be for some of our teams this week, but tomorrow’s a new day to bring home the gold and #ReshapeSport for #TeamWarwick !!
The main event this week was our notorious Bring Your Own Fresher circle – an annual festivity where tennis fresh can make their debuts and establish a Big NameTM for themselves. Accompanied by a current member of the club, fresh had to wear white to signify their sacrifice to the Circle Gods (i.e. Battle and Zulu). Our social secs gave a strong performance, issuing gambles and challenges all over the joint, but the mention of the week has to go to Jamie Moss for his dedication to his birthday circle!!
Another special shoutout goes to Jacob Bazell and Battle for what might have been the dumbest thing anyone in tennis circle has ever done, and tried to woo the crowd with a jump-off-the-table contest, with Jacob body-slamming the floor faster than the Williams sisters can serve.
Next week has no theme, so let’s see what’s in store for us then, shall we?
Last but not least, DomTour tickets went on sale yesterday, with around 30 lucky tennis boys and girls booking onto what some may call the trip of a lifetime –all signs point towards one “mystery” location, but maybe this is just Jamie Brown’s version of a ridiculous red herring and taking us to Coventry instead.
Keep an eye out on the Warwick Tennis page for the kit shop opening this week!
