TERM 1 WEEK 10
As members return home after a busy term, they can enjoy reading through the last blog of the term. Remembering the fun times they had, whilst they return to their tennis-less lives of the holidays.
It has been a hectic first term for the club. Over the last 10 weeks we have been able to boast of numbers of over 160 members. We have had; 10 pops, 2 schooldays, a questionable tour destination, 10 Match-plays, 18 Social plays, 4 taster sessions and more.
It has been a term of freshers making discoveries about themselves, as they start the long journey to mastering both circle and Social-play. Learning precious skills that they can take forward with them away from Warwick such as counting to 21 and being able hit a tennis ball in a completely uncontrolled manner, almost hitting multiple people, but still bragging that the clean winner was on purpose (extremely useful in the business world).
As the final week of term commenced, numbers were thinning. Members had a stressful week full of deadlines, working to the end before collapsing on Friday. All members of UWTC wanted to do was breakup, forget our work, hope we weren’t failing and go to social play. Sadly, the gods intervened, producing a downpour that forced Kraven and Ollie to cancel, leading most of us to look strange all day for no reason (tennis shorts and a Christmas jumper is not a good look, especially in a storm). However, we made the most of it and went to the Duck for pre-circle pints and food.
Due to the shocking lack of tennis in the week we had to make a strong showing at the Final Sleigh circle. Members went full out, particularly Kraven who was aided by a few members of the club who supplied beard glitter as well as beard baubles. A link below, as I had no clue what these were at first.
Clement stood out in yet another suit;
a suit that took Santa suits to a new level.
There was interesting gambles, such as how much tinsel
two circlers could steal in 2 minutes.
The next day people were brought back to the reality
that it was week 10, but were swiftly reminded that it was
Christmas with the club meal, where members joined together
at the old library to celebrate the end of term.
Maddie and Ben organised a brilliant meal, just look at this meal.
All those who didn’t make it look at this menu and
make sure you take part next year!!
The meal was followed by karaoke. Highlights of the evening were Cam's multiple performances (see evidence on the Club chat), first with the beautifully voiced Marcus and Milan, and later with the equally talented Jamie Brown. Members also witnessed Lauren, Maddie, Teresa and Claire putting on an X-Factor level performance of All Star. After this strange pre-drinks karaoke night, members joined together for a big night at Neon - as was coined perfectly by Will, “I do not remember this at all”.
Merry Christmas from the Exec.
See you all in the New Year for another great term of tennis (the only reason you’re at Uni) !
