TERM 3 WEEK 6
Hello all, another week finished in term 3 and we are now mostly done with exams! Roll on the rest of term 3, with drunk social plays, more circles, Sports Ball and a Wimbledon trip to come too!
Most of this week was quite low-key, unfortunately social play on Wednesday got cancelled because of rain, but considering the recent low turn-out due to exams, it probably wasn’t a huge loss. I’m also reliably informed by Kraven that ‘nothing interesting happened’ during Sunday’s social play.
Not much this week in terms of tournament matches - the only match of note this week was Connor and Frances beating Tommy and Tess 6-1 6-2 in the mixed dubs. Keep on playing your tournament games and getting the results into Ollie and Kraven.
At the end of the week, 18 Warwick Tennis members, some new, some old (Bosler and Hickson) took on the challenging 10K Wolf Run, and at the time of writing we have raised a solid 310 pounds. Feel free to donate at:
There were many trips, slips and tumbles, and at times the muddy fields represented No Man’s Land in about 1918, but ultimately all 18 of us managed to cross the finishing line. It was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend doing it next year.
Special shoutout goes to Charles Duthu for finishing first among the tennis cohort, as well as Greg for managing to finish despite a slight graze to his knee - a true embodiment of an OCR veteran. Most of us managed to pop into the Old Library afterwards for a pint of two, despite Clement’s best efforts to slow us down by taking a leak on the hard shoulder halfway down the M6.
Also well done to Arjun for organising the UWTC representation and the fundraising efforts (I do love blowing my own trumpet), as well as Connor and Ryan for getting us there and back in one piece.
This week sees the much-awaited return of circle, hopefully there’ll be a good attendance with most of us finished with exams.
Love Arjun xoxoxoxo
